Review: Noble: Episode Two (Cobra: The Gay Vigilante Series Book 2) by Nicholas Bella

The second book in this highly addictive series started with Eric musing about his new vigilante life as Cobra. While musing he takes us way back to give us insight in his past and where his superpowers had been coming from. I really appreciated this little tidbit, because I've been already wondering if this series had been a spinoff from another series by the author, so thank you for that.

While cleaning the streets successful of criminals, Eric sure enjoys when his ego gets stroked or even better when there is a sexy, willing male body to show him his gratitude. With Jordan working on his hacker skills and going back to college they’ve been also stocking up on their equipment. Hacking into the dark web and witnessing one of the most horrible crimes ever, a crime so cruel nobody ever should have to witness, let alone endure as a victim; their only plan is track those sick f**** down and let them pay, an eye for an eye. Following the money trail of the killing game, the name responsible for the victim’s horrible death had been found soon and was taking them into an entire differently world of crime. With plan A and B not working, there’s always a plan C for Eric and while learning off his sloppy mistakes, Cobra’s first target in a nest of vipers will be dying a very slow and painful death. Personally I think there is no mother in this world who wouldn’t have joyful killed that target herself.

The second Episode of the series had been a lot darker and very intense, but nonetheless a fantastic read. I'm thankful that there are no cliffhangers and the episode ended with amazing sex between the main characters. The authors writing skill speaks for itself and there is no chance you won’t be addicted, after reading the first two books of the series. I’m already in love with the cover of book 4, I mean hey, have you seen that sexy silver fox... Before getting there I still have to devour Episode 3 to find out who'll be Cobra’s next target from the killing game.

Thank you Nicholas Bella, for this continued fantastic reading experience!

"I thought I knew what evil looked like... I was wrong."

It's foolish to think you've seen it all just because you've seen things no human should ever have to see. The things I've gone through in my twenty-eight years on this earth have shaped me into the man... or in my current case... the vigilante I am today. It's been three months since I've taken up the mantle of Defender of the Innocent from Putrid Scum.  I go by Cobra for short. I must admit, I feel like I have a real purpose now and I do enjoy kicking a lot of--well, you get the point. Things were going pretty good until my partner, Jordan, cracked through the firewall of an illegal website on the dark web. I'd been witnessed to a lot of horrors on the battlefield, but seeing this particular round of humanity's sadistic cruelty to humanity actually made me lose my lunch. That's not an easy feat. I know one thing, I'm going to take down the monsters who run this site and all of their sick customers. That's my new life goal.

Warning: This is a novella serial series that will be coming at you fully loaded with hot, gay sex. Yes, there will be all kinds of bodily fluids splashing and squirting in all directions with each episode. Expect body parts to be sliced, diced, gouged, and even ripped apart because I don't half step. This is a series intended for adults only, who want a superhero that loves to play dirty... and by dirty, I mean grimy as hell.

Review: Origins: Episode 1 (Cobra: The Gay Vigilante Series) by Nicholas Bella

Seeing as I don’t have much time to read lately I’m always thankful for amazing lower pages books. Having this series on my kindle for a while now, I wasn’t sure what to expect though, not least because of the of the Warning label: “This is a novelette serial series that will be coming at you fully loaded with hot, gay sex. Yes, there will be all kinds of bodily fluids splashing and squirting in all directions with each episode….” and so on. Truth to be told, I wasn’t too eager to read of certain splashing body fluids, whereas I sure didn’t mind to read of others like the squirting ones of course… Boy, have I been missing out!

Right from the beginning the book started out partwise hilarious with a not very happy MC Eric who, as an out and proud gay man had to shift into the body of some hot playboy model from ages ago to accomplish his assignment. Just getting off the hook without figuratively having his pussy ate out; the worst thing for him had been not to be allowed to kill this sleazebag of a target in order to get paid. With his hands bound there had been just “minimal” violence, but if you thought just for a moment Eric would let things like that slide you had another thing coming.

Even though not in a committed relationship Eric and his partner Jordan had been a dream team in and out of the bedroom ever since that fateful day six month ago. Needing to break up their tents once more because of a bloody late night dinner, Jordan eventually had been able to convince Eric of his higher purpose in life and born was Cobra.

I really loved the language used in the book and also the balance between humor, action and hot sex. Enjoying the story and its teller’s spell I just couldn’t stop reading, not before the very last page had been consumed. Surprisingly I even didn’t mind the bodily fluids splashing, seeing as they had been well deserved.  Thank you Nicholas Bella for this fantastic read!

(Cobra: The Gay Vigilante Series)

"He saw me as his hero, but I'm nobody's hero."

At least that's what I tell myself. My name is Eric Cayden, and I'm a man with some pretty extraordinary abilities. It's because I have these superhuman powers, my best friend, Jordan, sees me as hero material. I'm not the only one in the world with special abilities, of course. Some people have already stepped up to the plate and made themselves martyrs, but I'm not about self-sacrificing for the greater good and all that crap. Not anymore. I've already bled for my country. Now, I just want to live a normal life in the shadows and make a lot of money doing odd jobs on the side. Is that too much to ask? Well, according to my friend, Jordan, I'm destined to be something better than a glorified errand boy. He thinks I have a higher calling. He thinks I can be a hero. Well, I'm not too sure about the hero part, but I do hate it when bad people get away with doing evil things. So maybe, just maybe Jordan has a point. We'll see, won't we?

Yes, there will be all kinds of bodily fluids splashing and squirting in all directions with each episode. Review: I Do, Or Dye Trying by Aimee Nicole Walker

The struggle is real! That’s what Gabe can sing a song from these days, because if it rains it pours….. The, under normal circumstances, very laid back Detective Dirty Talker stumbles from one nightmare into the next, as if he wouldn’t have enough already  on his agenda with making Josh his forever in a few weeks.  The roles are reversed and for once Gabe is the one struggling and fighting with all kind of emotions, we only knew from Josh so far. I’ve been wondering for a while now at which point Aimee Nicole Walker would bring up Gabe’s past to bite him in the ass and therefore would say that she did an amazing job with keeping the reader on the edge with suspense.

Life is not easy on Josh these days either, seeing his man struggle takes its toll on him and for once he has to be the strong one in their relationship. It was amazing to see Josh surprising everybody and his man the most, with being the laid back one this time and how far he had come since the very beginning. Instead of turning back into his old insecure, control freakish self, he refused to be the victim yet again and have faith in Gabe and their future. With not being prisoner to fear this time, Josh is ready to accept whatever life will throw at them and so much more.

The last part of the book I’d call heavenly caveman style and therefore can’t wait for the story of Mr. Bestseller and Doc Paws….

I’m sad that Josh and Gabe’s story came to an end, but look forward to see hopefully more of them in the following books in the series.  A big THANK YOU to Aimee Nicole Walker for a few hours of immense reading pleasure!

I Do, or Dye Trying by Aimee Nicole Walker
(Curl Up and Dye Mysteries,#4)

Newly engaged Josh Roman and Gabe Wyatt know the road to happily ever after won’t be easy, but the two men are certain their biggest challenges are in the rearview mirror. However, life in Blissville is never what it seems and all signs point to dangerous curves ahead.

Josh and Gabe refuse to take a detour because everything they've dreamed of is within reach, not even when professional and personal revelations threaten to wreck their plans. It should be the happiest time in their lives, yet neither man can shake the feeling that something sinister waits around the next corner.

Buckle your seatbelts and hang on for the ride because Josh and Gabe are committed to saying “I do” or die trying.

I Do, or Dye Trying is the fourth book in the Curl Up and Dye Mysteries series. These books need to be read in order as the storyline unravels throughout the series. They contain sexually explicit material and are intended for adults 18 and older.

Review: Three To Play by Kris Cook

Short after his last release Kris Cook surprised us with a re-release of one of his early works, THREE TO PLAY.  Even though I haven’t been reading a mรฉnage in ages, or better said anything with a female involved, I just had to get this book.  Well I mean, if Kris Cook is written on the cover, a Kris Cook romance is what you’ll get, right. Boy was I wrong! This book had been absolutely different from everything I’ve been reading from this author so far. It was one STEAMY, HOT read, which made a cold shower necessary.

From the beginning the sexually tension between the main characters had been physically perceptible. Starting off on the wrong foot Clint and Beth first have to come to terms with their undeniable attraction and deep buried wants before getting anywhere. They are nowhere like the easy going Dustin, the self-confident, calm and absolutely unshakable dream of a man, or so it seems until shit hits the fan….

The sex scenes truly fogged up my kindle! The first tension of the trouple was released in a very hot MFM threesome, followed by some hot MF BDSM parts and incredible shower sex. The long awaited MMF and man on man action between Clint and Dustin sure was worth the wait and to be honest, I wouldn’t have minded at all to be the sexy woman between those two hot studs… Well, a woman can dream, right! ;D

Even though I’m more at home in the MM genre I’ve enjoyed this book immensely and sure would be up for another ride in this genre. Well done Kris Cook and thank you once more for a wonderful book!

Three To Play by Kris Cook

They were best friends and the hottest duo on the airwaves…

…and then they met her.

Clint Moore and Dustin Lake, both 30, are close to realizing their dream of landing a job in NYC radio. Their friendship and careers are all that matters. No woman will ever come between them, even though they have shared a few women. Clint and Dustin believe that this latest gig in Dallas, Texas will be the last stop before the Big Apple.

One problem, the station demands they include the current announcer in the show...

About to turn forty, Beth Taylor feels like her whole world is about to fall apart. She’s very aware of Clint and Dustin’s reputation. The hotshots do increase ratings but they also get people fired. She will not let that happen to her. Best to set the ground rules early. But from the moment she meets Clint and Dustin, Beth realizes…

Not only is she risking her job, she’s risking so much more.

During a private celebration, things heat up between the three of them and secret desires began to bubble up.

THREE TO PLAY is a super-steamy standalone MMF May-Dec bisexual mรฉnage romance with explicit scenes of MM, MF and MMF. HEA Guaranteed.

This book is an updated reissue of a 2009 release.

Review: Sight Unseen by Susan Mac Nicol and Nicholas Downs

How would you feel if waking up to a nightmare of never ending darkness, scared and alone. The best days of your relationship long gone, at the mercy of a uncaring, self centered boyfriend, who just won't see you as the man you once were. Abandoned 12 years ago for being gay, by the people where would have been supposed to love you the most. The only man never leaving your side, being your rock and light in all the dark, your best friend since childhood days. If there just wouldn't be the big elefant in the room that could destroy everything even more....

That's exactly how Sight Unseen begins, a epic love story about two men, both are suffering from decision made 12 years ago. This book also is a lot about second chances, second chances in life and love. The other day I've seen a question asked from another author at facebook about second chances and wasn't to sure how to answer. Now, after reading this wonderful book I would say; when life and love are giving us second chances, who are we then to decline something that could lead to be the best thing of our life.

Susan Mac Nicol is one of the authors on my auto buy list, so I'm already familiar with her writing. This book had been different, though. Personally I think it's the best book she ever wrote and she's outdone herself. Not only had she to write from a blind, gay man's perspective, she also had to write in a complete different slang. Like I already said; for me the story itself had been epic and therefore I can't wait to see it hopefully soon on screen, with Nicolas Downs in the leading role.

Thank you Susan Mac Nicol, for this most wonderful book of yours, which I enjoyed reading emensly!

Tragedy brings together a reserved but brilliant sculptor and an outgoing gallery owner, friends whose love was sidetracked—but was always meant to be deeper.

BLINDSIDED

SoCal natives, Nate and Cody have been friends since childhood. Both knew they were different—and the same. At seventeen, a stolen weekend in the Florida Keys drove their connection deeper and hotter than either could imagine. They were meant to be together. Then, for reasons only Nate knows, suddenly they weren’t.

They’re still friends. Best friends. But they’ve moved on and found other partners. The yearning remains, however, despite the long-ago secret that drove them apart, and when tragedy strikes, both men find themselves in the dark. They must grope their way back to who and what they are...which they will find in each other’s arms. Sometimes, losing one’s sight can open one’s eyes—and heart.

My Review: Dyed and Gone to Heaven by Aimee Nicole Walker

The third book in Aimee Nicole Walker’s Curl Up and Dye Mystery Series once more gifted me with a few hours of exquisite reading pleasure. I’ve been amazed by so many things in this book, but the biggest joy was to read how far Josh had come, in the short amount of time, since he’d been with his very own and sexy Detective Delicious, or whatever name Josh had seen fitting at that very moment… Sure, there had been still those moments where the ugly head of Josh’s old insecurity had a short presence, but it didn’t take long and the world was back in apple pie order.

Detective Smooth Talker, slowly taking over Josh’s snark had been good for the most hilarious moments at times, even without skinny jeans… The softer side of Gabe when being with Josh had me swooning, the deep love, the trust and understanding between those two men was heartwarming. Seeing as there had been a few dubious, new characters in this book, the suspense packed Mystery side sure didn’t miss out either and kept me on my toes till the surprising end, solved conscientious by Gabe.

Following the hints this wonderful author had been given us over the last two-hundred- sixty-some pages, we sure can look forward to a another amazing, surprise packed read, before those two beautiful men will get their well-deserved HEA. Even though the end of their story is near, I’m happy to hopefully soon after “I Do Or Dye Trying” to be able to dig into Dr. Dimples and Chaz’s long awaited story.

Thank you Aimee Nicole Walker for this absolute amazing read!

Review: A Mockingbird Place Bundle: 6 Gay Romances + Bonus Material by Kris Cook

Here I am, sitting on a bench at the river and musing what to say about this wonderful series, something that I didn’t say already. I’m a big fan of this series and its author, always was, so I really enjoyed re-reading all this awesome stories. Every story has their own heroes, or should I say survivors, wonderful men that had to endure so much in their young life’s, outcast by their families or society, sent on a long suffering road to recover from their past. Blood isn’t thicker as water, LOVE is! In every one of those 6 books you can feel the love, the healing energy which is never to far when you live in an apartment at Mockingbird Place. How I would love to live there myself, as one of the Mockingbird Place residents, in a community where you're not just a tenant, where you're an important part of a big, loving family of friends. It wouldn’t make much sense to repead my reviews for all of the six books here, but you can find them at amazon.com and amazon.de, if you are interested.

The bonus material was as wonderful as the books are, I've been reading it with a laughing and an crying eye. There had been so many happy moments with all my beloved characters, but on the other hand my heart was bleeding for the lgbt youth and how badly a lot of those kids had been treated. I really would like to know if Kris Cook is considering to gift us with a Lifeline Ranch related Mockingbird Place spinoff.... Not only would I love to see how our former Mockingbird Place couples are doing, I also would love to read a lot more about those kids and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking so.

The bottom line is that it was a wonderful collection from the first six books of the series with fantastic bonus material, which left me wanting more. Thank you Kris Cook, for being such an amazing Storyteller!

If you are interested to read this wonderful collection yourself, now is the time to get it, because it's still on sale for 99 Cents until April 17. #finalcountdown

Review: "The Musician In Unit G" from Kris Cook

Mockingbird Place has been enriched by another wonderful written love story from Kris Cook. Not knowing if Nicco was even gay, but hoping so to get his story, I’ve been wondering who he would end up with. Josh had been a bit a surprise for me, but after reading this book I just can say Kris Cook sure knows what he’s doing. These two men had been perfect for each other!

Nicco and Josh both spent way too many years in their own kind of prison. Nicco had been detained and spent 10 years of his young life for something he didn’t do and Josh spent almost as much time in a different kind of prison and just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Both men sacrificed themselves for the ones they love. Already attracted to one another it doesn’t take long for them to fall in love, but before they can get anywhere close to a Happy End they have to deal with the ghosts from the past which are still haunting their every waking moment.

I’m still not sure how to take the last two chapters and somehow they made me feel sad because it seemed like a Good Bye to me. Well sure, there are new Characters and I’m sure the series will go on, but it still seemed like a Good Bye to the Characters we all have been so growing fond of. I guess just time will tell and Kris Cook may have more than one surprise in the near future for us.

The Nexus: Samhain by Ian Cadena

The Nexus is the realm between death and the after-life and has been sealed for centuries. Max Dane, an eleven-year-old boy turning twelve on Halloween, may be the only key to opening it. But maybe it should stay sealed. This book series is set within a year span of Max's arrival to Ravencrest, Vermont where the paranormal is the norm. Max has epileptic seizures that cause hallucinations but his new friends try to convince him he's having psychic visions via the Nexus. Max’s visions keep taking him back to Samhain during the middle ages where he meets a tortured soul in the form of an eight-year-old boy named Jack. Max decides he’s going to help release Jack from his torment even if it costs him his own sanity. His only chance at doing that is to traverse the Nexus and brave a fierce entity known as the Knightmare. And to traverse the Nexus he must explore mystical and spiritual practices like drumming, meditation and tarot, which launch him not only through the Nexus but on a journey of self-discovery that he may regret. The first book in the series takes place in the fall and subsequent novels to take place in winter, spring, and summer. These novels focus on holidays corresponding to witch Sabbats and are inspired by Celtic, Norse, and Native American folklore and myths.

Undisputed by Aimee Nicole Walker & Nicholas Bella

I love MMA! I mean have you seen those sexy, ripped, all man, cocky macho fighters? Sigh! Put in some well written m/m love in the mix and I’m gone.  Even though Aimee Nicole Walker and Nicholas Bella both are at home in the m/m genre, their works couldn’t be any more different and that’s exactly why their joining forces sure promised to be outstanding.

There is that one person who enters your life out of nowhere, and suddenly means the world to you. Even though Macio and Aiden needed some time to process their feelings for each other, it’s been pretty clear that they found the one person in this world that made them complete. This book wasn’t just a wonderfully written tale by two Bestselling Authors; it was a heartfelt love story about two men taking a chance, but first had to master one hell of a ride before making a change. This book had been packed with all kind of emotions and our MC’s had to face an acid test first, before getting anywhere close to an Happily Ever After….

For me, Aimee Nicole Walker and Nicholas Bella had been a dream team, both are already top in their own league, but together they are undisputed. Not only had this book been very addictive, it also left me wanting for more. I really hope there’s already another collaboration planned, because there had been a few secondary characters where I would love to get their story to read.

Thank you, to both authors for this wonderful written book!

Undisputed by Aimee Nicole Walker & Nicholas Bella

There was once a time in my life where the only thing that mattered to me was fighting and winning. I’d step into that octagon with all the confidence in the world that I’d leave the victor. There was no challenge too great that I couldn’t handle. That was until I met a sassy and sexy reporter by the name of Aiden James and he flipped my world upside down.

I didn’t do relationships because I had to keep that part of myself hidden, but I couldn’t seem to get Aiden out of my mind. Maybe if I could just have my way with him one time, I’d be able to get him out of my system. But if I couldn’t, would I be able to sacrifice everything I worked so hard for to have Aiden? Was the reward worth the risk or could I live my life without Aiden?

***

I was thrilled when I landed an interview with MMA’s sexiest fighter, Anamacio De Niro. I had heard that he was a very private man, but nothing prepared me for his level of stubbornness. That didn’t stop me from soaking up every second that I was in the same room with my secret crush. I never expected to hear from him when our interview ended, so imagine my surprise when he contacted me out of the blue and asked to meet again.

I quickly learned why Macio was so private when he revealed the secret he hid from the world. As excited as I was that he returned my attraction, I had promised myself that I’d never fall for another closeted guy. My vow shattered the second his lips touched mine and I let my guard down for one night of earth-scorching sex, knowing it was all I would ever have with him. Or was it? Did it have to be all or nothing or could we find a way to be together without either of us getting hurt?

***

Undisputed is the first collaboration between Amazon best-selling authors Nicholas Bella and Aimee Nicole Walker. It is the story of two men who learn that the most important fight of their life isn’t battled in an octagon or in the court of public opinion; it’s waged in the heart.

Nicco
I’m still getting used to my freedom. Ten years in prison definitely had an impact on me. Since my exoneration and release, I’ve had my eye on Josh the musician in Unit G. He’s so damn sexy. I sense that he’s hiding something from everyone. I know a thing or two about secrets. I caught a lucky break when he asked me to be his roommate. I’m moving in today. Who knows? Maybe he let his walls down and we can get real with one another. Really real.

Josh
What have I done? In a moment of weakness I agreed to let Nicco move in with me. Yes, I’m very attracted to him, on every level. But I can’t pursue a relationship with him or with anyone. I’ve already taken too many risks. Not only am I going to have to quit my band, I’m going to have to figure out how to deal with Nicco living with me. He can’t know about my past. No one can. If it gets out, I’ll have to leave, which is something I’m too familiar with.

The Hard Boys Series from Ian Cadena #mustread

The Hard Boy Series from Ian Cadena is a bit like those feel good songs, because they make everything a bit better. These books put a smile on your face no matter what’s been bugging you before. You won’t find any kind of drama in these wonderful books and they are a lot of fun to read. Okay, maybe they should come with a warning label for possible side effects like: laughing your ass off, getting addicted, and getting horny, lol.

Alien Abduction:
Ethan & Justin Hard, along with their best friend Sparky, have formed Enigma Investigations to search out paranormal activity. When their first potential...and adorable...client experiences missing time after a UFO sighting the Hard boys are all too eager to jump on his case. Will the Hard boys be able to solve what happened during his lapse of time?

Frankenseed:
Mysteria is engulfed by power-outages and tumultuous weather. Ethan and Justin Hard must figure out what the cause is before the whole town is destroyed.
But with the Hard boys' newly super-charged anatomies, they may very well be the culprits!

Review: The Hard Boys Meet Dr. Frankenseed, Ian Cadena

The Hard Boy Series is a bit like those feel good songs, because they make everything a bit better. These books put a smile on your face no matter what’s been bugging you before. You won’t find any kind of drama in these wonderful books and they are a lot of fun to read. Okay, maybe they should come with a warning label for possible side effects like: laughing your ass off, getting addicted, and getting horny, lol.

The Hard Boys meet Dr. Frankenseed had so many highlights for me that I have no idea where to begin with my praise. Most of the characters we knew already from the first book Alien Adbuction and those characters we just met in here are the perfect addiction to the Scooby Doo like gang.

One of my absolute favorite parts sure was learning more about them as kids, how they met growing up in Ravencrest, which had also been the parallel to Ian Cadena’s Nexus series and gave me hope for a crossover of the two series somehow. The romance between Justin and Ethan and their public display of affection had been so heartwarming and sure left me wanting more.

The most hilarious moments had been the German inputs from Dr. Frankenseed, things like “Scheibenkleister” or “did you burn your Schnitzel”, had me laughing out loud, seeing as German is my mother tongue.

Thank you for this wonderful read Ian Cadena!

Review: Something To Dye For by Aimee Nicole Walker

A phone call in the middle off the night and we are full into the next case of Detective Sex on a Stick, with a certain sexy beauty salon owner written target all over, again….

This book was so beautifully written that I couldn’t put it down. I really loved the balance between romance, fun and mystery. Whereas in the mystery part once more half of the town was involved and Josh and his Beauty Salon right in the middle of it, the romance part was to dye for. I really loved the chemistry between Gabe and Josh, their deep, heartfelt love, how they began not just to trust the other, but also their feelings for each other and how it didn’t take long for them to want… something, more. It’s been a joy to read where their L and R words slowly changed their meanings and how they both had been troubled to deal with the times they had to spend apart.

One of the biggest highlights, as always, had been Josh’s blue macaw Savage with his potty mouth, which clearly owned the hilarious moments of the book.

Thank you Aimee Nicole Walker, for this wonderful read!
I can’t wait to read the next book of the series and already wonder if maybe Detective Butt Munch’s past will bite him in the ass…

Review: The Hard Boys: Alien Abdiction by Ian Cadena

A while ago I’ve been reading the short story „The Dark” by Ian Cadena and had been pretty impressed with his writing skills. Well, to say this book had been different would be the understatement off the year, because it’s one of those “what did I just read” experiences which you first need to process before having an opinion! I think Ian Cadena himself describes this book best with his own words on his website;
WELCOME! I WRITE WEIRD TALES!

For the most part “Alien Abduction” is very entertaining and the reader can feel the Scooby Doo influence all along. Right from the beginning the book starts pretty hot and the erotic, or should I say naughty… whatsoever, those parts will be present thru the whole book and not just because of the very high sex drive of the Hard Boys. Maybe it’s just me, but the Aliens description reminded me a bit of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, so that made some parts even more hilarious for me. Like I said, the book had been very entertaining, but then there had been these other parts, a story for reflection where you ask yourself; is it possible? Will we become ET one day, a uniform colored, indistinguishable, sexless race? Efficient in execution of task— unencumbered by emotion, desire, envy or gain, because Society had become eager to eliminate all labels, all class envy, all prejudices of color, religion, race, and sex. Maybe we all need to reconsider our attitude that Mr. Cadena’s worst case scenario never will come true, and this story will stay just some fiction of a highly gifted author.
I already got part two and highly recommend this book/series if you are looking for a absolutely entertaining, very naughty read with a story for reflection!

Review: Dead Camp Series 1-3 by Sean Kerr

There’s a very fine line between genius and insanity! To write a book like Dead Camp you sure have to be a genius with a powerful imagination. Even though fantasy books are not my favourite genre, this story had been one of the few that got me hooked from the beginning. There would be no book without the fantasy of the writer, and in my opinion Dead Camp 1 had been perfectly balanced between fantasy, action, humor and an overactive stamina. Some parts of the book had me like “Holy Cow, the author is walking on very thin ice”, whereby my favourites parts where the most insane ones. Although the book is mainly written with a slope to the dark side, I loved its humor and sometimes hilarious moments. About the overactive stamina I just have to say; Sean Kerr’s husband sure has to be a very lucky man…. As for me; I sure will follow this series until the very end!

https://www.amazon.com/Dead-Camp-1-Sean-Kerr-ebook/dp/B019EV4DVM

I really wish this book would be just some awesome fantasy, written by a very gifted author that is Sean Kerr! Sadly most of it isn’t, its history, it’s the darkest part in German history ever, it’s my history.

Dead Camp 2 with its 179 pages took me almost two weeks to read. Sure I’m not the fastest reader on earth, but it hadn’t been because of that. It was because sometimes I just couldn’t take anymore and I needed time to grief, to understand. I’ve been growing up in Germany in the 70th, sure we had history at school, we knew about all the things that happened then, we even had been in one of those Death Camps and I have seen the furnaces where the corps where burned myself, but at my age it was more like someone told you a once upon a time fairy tale, like Hansel & Gretel by the Brothers Grimm. With Sean Kerr’s book and his gift of very visual writing, Germany’s dark history became flesh & blood; it became faces, voices and names. With every new name there had been another soul abandoned to a horrible fate. It wasn’t like reading Anne Frank or watching Schindler’s list. This book had been intense, very intense and sometimes just too much for me to bear and that’s why I needed lots of breaks and it took me so long to finish. Thru Eli’s eyes I could see and feel the pain, the terror and the desperation.

The fantasy part of the book had not been less intense for me, and the hardest part of it was to lose Malachi. I dearly loved the bubbly ghost; he’d been my Sunshine in all that dark. Malachi, as the camp he was, had been good for more than one hilarious moment in the Dad Camp series. Even though I knew there was a risk to lose Malachi’s soul in the process, I couldn’t believe how things turned out and it left me more than just a bit heartbroken.

Thank God the Dead Camp series isn’t just about Nazi Germany; it’s about a history that reaches back since time immemorial, including heaven and hell, as well as everything between. Sean Kerr is a wonderful story teller and has a very special way with words, or like a friend the other day laconic said; Sean Kerr’s texts should win the Pulitzer!

I

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul to waste

Sympathy for the devil, that's what I thought of first for my headline, because that's what I really had; Sympathy for the fallen Angel, the firstborn, feeling abandoned by his beloved father, identifying with the lost souls, their displacement and sympathetic to their cause. All the evil in the world created thru the unconditional love of an rebellious angel.

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate....

That's pretty much where Dead Camp 3 has it's roots. Forget everything you ever thought to know about Christianity, because this book will turn it all upside down! This book will let you questioning everything you ever believed in.

Even though I've been suspecting where Eli came from all along, his real identity so to speak, the story was something I never would have dreamed of. To say I've been surprised to witness how he got Menarche would be the understatement of the year! This book had so many twist and turns that every time I thought to have figured out what happens next, Sean Kerr threw me a curveball.

The last chapter and the epilogue was the worst! My heart was ripped out yet again by a fantastic storyteller, whereas I've been happy to meet again with one of my favourite characters of the series, Malachi. I've been crying for Gideon, but glad to be knowing him where he belongs too... holy cow, Adam and Eve, I didn't see that one coming... and don't let me start with the Fรผhrer, where it seems we'll meet with yet again in the next book in the series.

Sean Kerr, the Mastermind behind the scenes, did it again! The first two books of the series had been masterpieces, where I thought he never would be able to top, but Dead Camp 3 had it all and so much more. I fell deeply in love with this wonderful written book and I just loved it's blunt language, which brought some light in all the dark. Kudos! Well done, Sean Kerr!

Review: Holiday Beaus; A Mockingbird Place Christmas Novella by Kris Cook

It’s this beautiful time of the year where everything revolves around Christmas, the celebration of Love. What’s better to start this beloved season as with a heartwarming Christmas Novella from one of your favorite authors? There hadn’t been a day this week where I didn’t get myself one or two of new Christmas releases. While still musing which one to read first, it’s been pretty clear after this surprise release from Kris Cook who won the race.

This wonderful written Christmas tale had been very different from the other books of the series. It was a very light and joyful read, just perfect for this first weekend in Advent. Well, sure there had been a little misunderstanding at the beginning and the green eyed monster also showed its presence, but other than that there had been no drama; I’d say quite the contrary. If you are a hopeless romantic and believe in Love at first sight, you sure will love this book as much as I do. This story sneaked its way in my heart and I’m sure it will stay there for quite a while!

Here we have the same problem as we have with every other book in the series, I just didn’t want for it to end! Even though almost every Character from the series is involved in this wonderful story it can also be read as a Standalone. For me one of the biggest highlights was to find out that this series will get a new playground for the author! I don’t know if Cardinal Gardens will be a Spin Off or simply more Apartments for the fast growing Mockingbird Place residents and guess that just time will tell. I’m just happy to know that there will be more and more and more! For now I’m satisfied with knowing that Nicco will be the next in line for this hopefully well-deserved HEA.

Review: The Nexus: Samhain by Ian Cadena

This book was one big challenge for me and I don’t just talk about its 470 pages, groan. Sometimes I have trouble to read books with 200 pages in a reasonable time, but almost 500 pages would be the death of me, so smart as I sometimes am I decided to also get the audio version of the book with it.

As I started this book I wasn’t sure what to expect, knowing other books of the author which are more to the funny side of fantasy life. It didn’t take to long for me to get into the story, whereas I had to accustom first to the back and forth switching between the then and now. While disturbing a bit for me at first it had been pretty clear after a while that; to understand the present, you must first understand the past. I fell in love with Max pretty quickly, and my heart was bleeding for him on so many levels. I think I never was reading a book before where I would have wrapped the main character in cotton wool and commit a murder without blinking an eye. At almost 12 years old, Max is used to be left alone to deal with his nightmares, “seizures and hallucinations”. After moving to Ravencrest and finding friends like Jonas, Cassandra and not to forget Chance it seems like things are getting different, or not… As if it wouldn’t be enough to deal with psycho babbles and an uncaring mother, there is Derek who also makes life difficult for him on a daily base.

I really enjoyed the parts where Max had been allowed just to be the typical 12 year old boy, with not much care in the world, while hanging out with his friends in the CONUNDRUM Cafรฉ, carving pumpkins, or being close to his first crush Chance. Even though the book was more on the serious side, there also had been some parts that made me chuckle or even laugh out loud. I just loved the Sisters Grimm and absolutely could see them starring in Ian Cadena’s Hard Boy series and am sure that would be hilarious. The only thing I really hated was the last two chapters and epilogue, but it wouldn’t be a series if it wouldn’t stop with a very heart stopping cliffhanger.

Altogether I think this book was a Masterpiece! I could tell that there was a lot of research done for this book and after reading it I’m more convinced than ever about the authors writing skills. I’m just happy that I waited so long for to read it, because now I hopefully won’t have to wait long for the sequel to come out. As for the audio book; I switched back and forth between reading and listening to the book. I was more than happy to learn that Mr. Cadena himself spoke the book on audio, first of because I think there is no better way/person to bring out the emotions of a book like the writer himself and second because I always like to have a voice to the face. Speaking of, I really liked the voice and its slang very much, though for some words I had to double check while reading. One English is not like another and being more used to the Canadian English some words had been a whole new experience for me.

Review: Dyeing To be Loved by Nicole Walker

This truly is a wonderful start in a new series! Aimee Nicole Walker is one of the authors I have on my auto buy list since “Only You”. I’ve also been a big fan of her fated hearts series, which sadly came to an end not long ago. Following her and the m/m genre in general I’ve seen and enjoyed her Tuesday Teasers long before this book have been out. Just because of the teasers I could tell that this series would be different from everything she wrote before, and I haven’t been mistaken.

It doesn’t take long for the reader to know that the two main characters Josh and Gabe already have a history together, whereas Gabe would love a repeat and Josh avoids him like the plague. With Josh being the main suspect in the hot detective’s new case, it sure doesn’t make it easier for Gabe to scratch a particular itch with the more than stubborn beauty salon owner. While they are still not sure if they even like each other it’s pretty clear that they are destined to be together. Some of their up and down, back and forth encounters are hilarious. Josh just hates to switch up his routines, they are his safe place, and therefore some of my favorite parts were as Josh had been thrown out far of his comfort zone.

Even though it’s a mystery, this read is a lot lighter than Aimee Nicole walker’s previous books. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the sequel. I wonder if just Detective Ego will get lucky in this series, or if Doctor Dimples and Chaz will have a chance at…. something. I guess just time will tell….
